What is a Certified Athletic
Therapist?
Certified Athletic Therapists (AT) are health care
professionals that provide care for musculoskeletal
injuries. Their services range from prevention,
assessment, and rehabilitation of injuries to immediate
on-site care of injuries. Athletic Therapists are
certified by the Canadian Athletic Therapist Association
and must stay current with their expertise in order to
maintain this title.
|
How do they become certified?
To become a certified Athletic Therapist, one must
complete the Athletic Therapy program at an accredited
post-secondary school. Once they have completed this
program they have to write the national certification
exams to become certified. To maintain certification an
Athletic Therapist must provide the Canadian Athletic
Therapist Association with documentation showing that
they are continuing to develop and enhance their skills
as a therapist.
